How to add an email signature in Gmail
Gmail keeps your signature in its settings and adds it to new emails and replies. Paste a signature from the generator and the layout, links and images come with it.
Gmail on the web
- 1In the signature generator, click Export > Copy signature.
- 2Open Gmail's settings: Settings > General.
- 3Scroll down to Signature and click Create new. Give it a name.
- 4Click into the box next to it and paste (Cmd+V on a Mac, Ctrl+V on Windows).
- 5Under Signature defaults, pick your signature for new emails and for replies/forwards.
- 6Scroll to the bottom and click Save Changes.
If something looks off
Gmail says the signature is too long
Gmail allows up to 10,000 characters of signature, counting the formatting. Hide the banner or the footer in the generator and copy it again.
Images don't show
Photos and banners are hosted online, so paste the signature rather than typing it out. If you uploaded your own image, give it a few seconds to load before copying.
The Gmail app on your phone
The mobile app uses a separate plain-text signature. The designed signature from the web is used when you write from a computer.
