How to add an email signature in Apple Mail
Apple Mail keeps a list of signatures for each account in its settings. One setting there quietly strips your formatting, so switch it off before you paste.
Apple Mail on a Mac
- 1In the signature generator, click Export > Copy signature.
- 2In Mail, open Mail > Settings > Signatures.
- 3Select your account on the left and click +.
- 4Untick Always match my default message font, or Mail will restyle your signature.
- 5Select the placeholder text on the right and paste (Cmd+V).
- 6Pick it under Choose signature, then close the window.
If something looks off
The signature loses its styling
Untick Always match my default message font in Mail > Settings > Signatures, then paste again.
Images appear as blue question marks
Mail loads hosted images when you send. If they still don't appear, check that Mail is allowed to load remote content in its privacy settings.
iPhone and iPad
Mail on iPhone and iPad supports only simple text signatures, set under Settings > Apps > Mail > Signature. Your designed signature is used when you send from your Mac.
